Links to you from related sites are an indication to the engines that these sites like you.
So for example if you are selling Ford cards and other ford cars sites link to you, whether that be for accessories or for servicing, then that link will count in your favour.
It is therefore in your best interest to set up an ongoing process whereby you accumulate these types of link
You can do this yourself or have an agency do it for you .

We covered eye tracking site visitors, the power of copywriting, keyword research and test pay-per-click campaigns.
Several people also offered their sites for on-the-spot feedback. Many tips and ideas were fed back on ways of improving the sites discussed.

In the past it was possible to develop your presence simply by submitting to several hundred or even thousand directories and asking them to list your site. This would build up your back links, which you certainly need to rank well.But today this is not enough. The backlinks you need have to come from many different types of source. For example article directories, video sites, and blog directories.

So let’s say you create your own blog and update it weekly.A good start. But you have to list your blog in as many blog directories as you can. If it is true quality then the directories will happily list you.

If your articles are well written you will have no problem getting listed in article directories.There are many services that will take your article and submit it to directories on your behalf. Or you could do it yourself.

Videos are perhaps the most recent addition to our marketing sphere. They are superb in getting your message out, perhaps by way of demonstration rather than talking about your comnpany.
Now you should take your video and ditribute it to several of the video sites. To make sure that visitors find you it is a good idea to watermark the videos you create.
Again services exist to distribute your video for you. As each site normally requires you to stay on screen for the upload, this can be very time consuming. So submission services save you a great deal of time.

Google has developed a very sohphisticated sytem for assessing all the back links a site has. It even records the date on which each was created. It further measures the rate at which your site accumulates these links. Too many in a short space of time is unnuatural, particluarly if your domain is relatively new. You have to be careful in the work you do so that this accumulation is more regular. They would be far more impressed with, say 30 links per month gathered over 12 months than 360 appearing in one month. So set up your link building activity accordingly.

Google now incorporates an element of recency into its rankings.
This means that new material from a trusted source gets an extra push. This is why it so important to have a blog because once you have become established, new posting you make will quickly show up in the rankings.

Finally, on page optimisation is just as important as ever. In order to gain from all the link building you do, you need to make sure your pages are properly optimised. Such things as proper titles, keywords and descriptions are important,as is naming your images after your top keywords.

The copy of your body text should also contain a few keywords. This will happen naturally as you are writing about your insustry and google is aware of word associations that go together. SO if you were writing about flowers, it would be natural that your text contained words like mothers day, special gifts, roses or other flower-related terms.
